Originally founded in 1914 as the aviation division of the Army Signal Corps, the modern U.S. Air Force was founded in 1947.

This medallion honors the commitment of the United States Air Force to develop and exploit aerospace technology in the defense of America’s global interests. The obverse contains the official seal of the U.S. Air Force. The reverse has an eagle bearing a crest available for engraving.
The medallion is minted in a brass alloy and coated with an antique bronze finish. Each medallion comes packaged with a walnut stand for display and placed in a museum quality presentation box, which in turn placed in a white gift box with the Air Force seal printed in gold foil.
Each coin measures 3 inch (76mm) in diameter.
