Description
This coin is minted from solid brass, using special deep-relief coining dies, with an antique patina applied for exceptional quality and detail, then imbued with bold enamel. The obverse features the colors of the National Defense Service Medal ribbon and depicts the medal’s eagle with inverted wings standing on a sword and palm branch. On the reverse is a shield taken from the Coat of Arms of the United States with an open wreath below it, the right side of oak leaves and the left side of laurel leaves, with spaces for engraving the recipient’s name, branch of service and date of issuance.
This coin is dedicated to the US military men and women who honorably answer their nation’s call during times of need.
