Formed in 1988 to replace the Veterans Administration, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is the federal government’s second largest department.
Charged with delivering acute and preventative health care services and overseeing the administration of benefits for America’s military service veterans and their families, it employs approximately 219,000 professionals. This coin is dedicated to all American service veterans and honors those who serve the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs with pride. The obverse contains the organization’s official emblem, which depicts an eagle clutching both a vintage and modern American flag, with the reverse having a wreath decoration and space for engraving.
Each coin measures 1.75 inches (44mm) in diameter.
