Description
This finely-crafted buckle is dedicated to those who “never give in” aboard the guided missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG-110).
She is the first ship named for William P. Lawrence, a courageous and decorated fighter pilot and Vietnam prisoner of war who also never gave in. His notable career also included stations as Fleet Commander, Chief of Naval Personnel, and Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy.
With surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles, anti-submarine missiles, deck guns, and two resident SH-60 Sea Hawk helicopters, the DDG-110 can be armed for combat on the sea, above it, and below it. She has carried her armament and her crew to the western Pacific to execute maritime security operations and has patrolled the Red Sea as part of Carrier Strike Group Eleven in the never-ending defense of freedom. Her sailors have also been literal lifesavers as they rescued mariners from a burning vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, and twice accompanied the French frigate, Montcalm, to aid civilian seamen in distress.
Minted in proof-like nickel, the DDG-110’s likeness stands bold in the center of the slide-lock buckle, spotlighted by a brilliantly enameled U.S. flag. The USS William P. Lawrence’s name and motto, “Never Give In,” complete the buckle’s composition. The military slide-lock buckle attaches easily with a clasp to secure the fixed end of the webbing and a slide pin to hold the adjustable portion of the belt.
Whether this is worn proudly on a uniform aboard the ship or displayed in a shadow box, this nickel buckle designed for USS William P. Lawrence enlisted makes a perfect gift, souvenir, or award for service
This belt buckle measures a 3 inch x 2 inch (75mm x 51mm) rectangle.
