Description

The USS Milius (DDG-69) is vital for defending American interests and protecting freedom across the globe. An Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer for the US Navy, she is marvelously equipped to succeed in even the most demanding of missions.

Named after Commander Paul L. Milius, a recipient of the Navy Cross, the USS Milius and her crew live up to his legacy of pride in service and strength of character. Milius’s aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire over Laos on 27 February 1968. He immediately ordered his crew to bail out and seven of the nine men aboard were rescued. Though he managed to exit his aircraft, Commander Milius was never recovered. He received the Navy Cross in 1968.
