This buckle is dedicated to the ship whose crew proudly proclaim is the finest and fastest in the U.S. Navy’s fleet. Designed for amphibious support, USS Harpers Ferry (LSD-49) can speedily move into position anywhere on the globe to face amphibious threats with the skill and lethal precision of its adept crew.
At 610 ft., she can carry a fully-equipped detachment of up to 500 Marines prepared to guard freedom across the globe. Since her launch in January 1993 and commission in January 1995, men and women serving aboard USS Harpers Ferry (LSD-49) have carried out their military, humanitarian, and disaster- relief missions with the U.S. Navy’s code of courage, honor, and commitment.
The town of Harpers Ferry, for which she is named, dates back to the beginning days of our country. The town made its first notable stamp on history in 1859 when abolitionists, led by John Brown, raided its federal arsenal in hopes of arming slaves and freedom fighters. Later in 1862 a pivotal battle exploded on the town’s soil that may just have won the war for the north. Minted in proof-like nickel, this buckle features a depiction of the USS Harpers Ferry ((LSD-49) cutting through the sea, flanked by a brilliant U.S. flag and the ship’s crest. The military slide-lock buckle attaches easily with a clasp to secure the fixed end of the webbing and a slide pin to hold the adjustable portion of the belt.

Whether this is worn proudly on a uniform aboard ship or displayed in a shadow box, these buckles make perfect gifts, souvenirs, and awards for service.
