The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst (NAWCAD LKE) is a U.S Navy research, engineering, and manufacturing facility located at Joint Base Mcguire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.
As the Navy’s critical command for aircraft carrier systems, the facility handles advanced technology crucial for launch and landing operations. Its responsibilities include managing legacy steam catapults alongside the newer Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), as well as traditional arresting gear and the modern Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG). Furthermore, NAWCAD Lakehurst is the military’s sole manufacturer of cross-deck pendants, emergency aircraft barricades, and Tilly crash/salvage cranes. The facility also develops aviation support gear, engine test stands, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launch and recovery systems, and cryogenics equipment.
This coin is dedicated to the 1,800 military and civilian personnel who continue to proudly serve the country as part of NAWCAD. Struck in a brass alloy and brushed with an antique bronze finish, this coin is imbued with bright enamel on both sides.
