Located in Concord, MA, Minute Man National Historical Park is the site of the opening battle of the American Revolutionary War. The battle that occurred on April 19, 1775 was the first step on the country’s road to freedom from their English oppressors and the park remains as a testament to the revolutionary spirit that defined a nation. The park is also home to the legendary Wayside House that was the residence of such famous literary minds as Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Margaret Sidney.
The medallion’s obverse shows the historic Wayside house. The reverse displays one of the famous residents of the Wayside, noted American author Nathaniel Hawthorne. Minted in deep relief using a special “splash minting” process, this coin is struck in a brass alloy and given a beautiful lacquered finished.
Each coin measures 1 1/2 inch (38.1mm) in diameter.
