Description
Commemorate your visit to Golden Gate National Recreation Area with this die-struck medallion created by master artisans. Great as a gift, to celebrate a trip or to just hold as a lasting reminder of your experience in America’s great outdoors, this splash-minted National Monument medallion will be a timeless keepsake that you will treasure forever.
Spanning the waters of the San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge connects San Francisco with Marin County to the north. The longest suspension bridge span in the world at the time of its completion, the engineering marvel is a world-renowned symbol of the charm and allure of the “City by the Bay.”
The medallion’s obverse shows the bridge with one of its iconic arches and the date the bridge was completed in 1937. The reverse displays the test “World’s Greatest Suspension Bridge.” Minted in deep relief using a special “splash minting” process, this coin is struck in a brass alloy and given a beautiful lacquered finished.
Each coin measures 1 1/2 inch (38.1mm) in diameter.
