Description
Since its inception in 1930, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has professionalized the federal prison service, humanized the care inmates receive, and ensured a consistent, centralized administration. It now controls more than 116 institutions and cares for over 210,000 federal inmates.
Minted from solid bronze, and imbued with bold colored enamel on both sides, this medallion is dedicated to the men and women of the BOP who protect us from the criminals and miscreants who threaten our very society. The obverse features a depiction of the Federal Bureau of Prisons logo. The reverse displays a symbolic key used to lock away the criminals.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
