The Grumman F6 Hellcat is an American carrier-based fighter aircraft of World War II. Designed to replace the earlier Wildcat and to counter the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M Zero, it was the United States Navy’s dominant fighter in the second half of the Pacific War.

This coin honors the pivotal role played by the F6 Hellcat during World War II and commemorates the aircraft’s enduring legacy of freedom. The obverse features a Hellcat in-flight below the words “American Airpower.” The reverse features the historic emblem of U.S. Naval and Marine Corps Aviation.

Minted in a brass alloy and given an antique bronze finish, the coin’s reverse is imbued with rich enamel accents.

Each coin measures 1 1/2 inch (39mm) in diameter.
