Commemorate your visit to Dinosaur National Monument with this die-struck medallion created by master artisans. Great as a gift, to celebrate a trip or to just hold as a lasting reminder of your experience in America’s great outdoors, this splash-minted National Monument medallion will be a timeless keepsake that you will treasure forever.
Located in northern Utah along the Utah-Colorado border, Dinosaur National Monument holds the largest excavation of Jurassic Period dinosaur bones ever discovered. Visitors can examine the past and step back in time at the quarry built above the dinosaur fossil beds to further the study of these fossilized clues into the earth’s ancient history.
The medallion’s obverse shows the stout, spiked form of the Stegosaurus dinosaur. The reverse displays a fossilized Stegosaurus and the date the monument was designated in 1915. Minted in deep relief using a special “splash minting” process, this coin is struck in a brass alloy and given a beautiful lacquered finished.
Each coin measures 1 1/2 inch (38.1mm) in diameter.
