Description

Commemorate your visit to Devil’s Tower National Monument with this die-struck medallion created by master artisans. Great as a gift, to celebrate a trip or to just hold as a lasting reminder of your experience in America’s great outdoors, this splash-minted National Monument medallion will be a timeless keepsake that you will treasure forever.

Located in the rocky wilderness of northeastern Wyoming, Devil’s Tower National stands 1,267 feet tall, towering above the Belle Fourche River. The first National Monument, it is a relic of an ancient volcanic feature. Its mysterious shape has been a beacon to outdoor lovers, rock climbers and even aliens as memorably imagined in the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

The medallion’s obverse shows the mystical shape of Devil’s Tower rising into the sky and the date the park was established, in 1906. The reverse displays two prairie dogs as a reference to the countless number of these curious rodents that can be found in the surrounding area. Minted in deep relief using a special “splash minting” process, this coin is struck in a brass alloy and given a beautiful lacquered finished.

Make sure you see all of our eye-catching National Park medallions. Choose the one with special meaning to you or collect them all and commemorate your journeys in the lush woods, bold deserts, deep waters, and dazzling summits found throughout America’s National Park System.

Each coin measures 1 1/2 inch (38.1mm) in diameter.
