Description

The brave men and women of United States Coast Guard Base Miami Beach keep vigilant watch over the waters of the southeastern United States. As headquarters for Coast Guard District Seven, which extends from South Carolina to the Caribbean, Base Miami Beach is at the forefront of America’s counter narcotics and alien migrant interdiction efforts.

Staffed by a full complement of active duty and reserve personnel, the base supports a modern fleet of utility and special-purpose patrol boats, including the newest of the Coast Guard’s 154-foot Sentinel-class Fast-Response Cutters. It spans three main locations: Causeway Island, Richmond Heights, and the Brickell Plaza Federal Building.

This coin commemorates the dedicated crews who serve Base Miami Beach. Minted with an antique bronze finish, the obverse features bright enamel and symbols that conjure the region’s tropical climate. The words “Tip of the Spear” underscore the base’s important role in strengthening America’s security. The reverse features the Coast Guard emblem.

Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
