Description

From the skies over Normandy, to the jungles of Vietnam and the deserts of the Middle East, the legendary “Screaming Eagles” of the 101st Airborne division have reigned the world’s skies for over six invincible decades.

One of the most decorated divisions of the U.S. Army, the 101st Airborne is America’s finest air assault division and excels at performing forcible entry capability through heliborne assault operations. The unyielding courage of this division allows it to undertake missions far in front of forward-line troops, executing their mission with lethal efficiency in extremely hostile environments. The Screaming Eagles are capable of inserting thousands of warfighters hundreds of miles into enemy terrain in a single lift.

Only the toughest serve in this elite division and this honored fraternity of fighters cherishes its quest for a “Rendezvous with Destiny,” as the division’s first commander, Maj. Gen. William C. Lee, promised the first recruits of the 101st.

The obverse of this coin shows the “Screaming Eagle” badge in the center, a symbol of the 101st Airborne’s mission to crush its enemies from the skies. The reverse has the United States Army emblem.

Struck with an antique bronze finish, this coin features rich color enamel.

Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
