Walter Reed National Military Medical Center sees an astounding one million beneficiaries each year and employs 4,500 professionals in over 100 clinics and specialties, ranging from brain trauma to amputee care. Located in Bethesda, Maryland the Center has over 2.4 million square feet of clinical space, representing a hope of healing to all who enter through its doors.
This medallion is dedicated to the former and current medical personnel who have proudly served this great hospital in its important role to care for this nation’s men and women in uniform and their Commander in Chief. The obverse, accented with bold colored enamel, depicts the logo of Walter Reed NMMC, surrounded by a blue enamel ring reading “Where The Nation Heals Its Heroes” and “The President’s Hospital.” The reverse carries the seals of the 5 branches of the military and the seal of the Department of Defense, raised from durable enamel background, encircled by the words “Excellence in Military Medicine” and “Walter Reed Bethesda.”
This handsome challenge coin is minted in a brass alloy, given an antique bronze finish, and is embolden with durable and attractive enamel.
