Formed in 1988 to replace the Veterans Administration, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is the federal government’s second largest department.

The obverse contains the organization’s official emblem, which depicts an eagle clutching both a vintage and modern American flag. The reverse contains the seal of the U.S. Department of Defense.
