The U.S. Navy put the USS Shasta out of service on 29 April 2011 in Pearl Harbor, HI.

Minted from cupronickel, and finished with an antique patina, this coin pays tribute to the USS Shasta and salutes the exceptional service of her crew. The obverse contains a scene of the vessel sailing across the Pacific. The reverse displays the shield and emblem of the USS Shasta, imbued with bold colored enamel.

Each coin measures 1.75 inches (44mm) in diameter.
