The USS Ingraham (FFG-61) was a force for defending American interests and protecting freedom across the globe. An Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate for the US Navy, she was marvelously equipped to succeed in even the most demanding of missions. The USS Ingraham was decommissioned on 12 November 2014.
Named after Duncan Nathaniel Ingraham, an officer in the United States Navy in the 19th Century, the USS Ingraham and her crew lived up to his legacy of pride in service and strength of character.
Commissioned on 5 August 1989, the USS Ingraham has a displacement of approximately 4,100 long tons and stretches some 453 feet in length. Armed with naval guns and anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine torpedoes, with other weapons, she was equipped for surface-to-air, surface-to-surface, and anti-submarine warfare. She was also the home to two SH-60 Sea Hawk helicopters.
This coin is minted in bronze, finished with an antique patina, and pays tribute to the USS Ingraham, saluting the exceptional service of her crew.
