Description

The Antietam (CG 54) is the U.S. Navy’s 8th Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser and was named for the site of the 1862 Battle of Antietam, Maryland, between Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee and Union forces under Major General George McClellan, during the American Civil War.

USS Antietam was one of the first vessels to take part in Operation Desert Shield, along with the rest of the USS Independence Battlegroup in August 1990, in response to the Invasion of Kuwait. Antietam then returned to the United States on 20 December 1990. According to an interview in 2007 BBC documentary, The Last Flight to Kuwait, Lawrence Eddingfield, who was Captain at that time states that the vessel was involved in a helicopter rescue of 2 British SAS troops who had arrived on BA 149 during the Invasion.

Minted in antique nickel, this buckle features the USS Antietam CG 54’s likeness slicing through the water, spotlighted by a brilliantly enameled ship’s crest. The military slide-lock buckle attaches easily with a clasp to secure the fixed end of the webbing and a slide pin to hold the adjustable portion of the belt.

Whether this is worn proudly on a uniform aboard ship, off duty, or displayed in a shadow box, this striking belt buckle makes a perfect gift, souvenir, or award for service for any enlisted sailor, relative, or loved one. Wear your pride today.

This belt buckle measures a 3 inch x 2 inch (75mm x 51mm) rectangle.
