The USS Anchorage (LPD-23) plays a critical role in America’s naval superiority across the globe. A San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, she is well equipped to support amphibious operations in any theater.

Commissioned on 24 January 2009, the USS Anchorage has a displacement of approximately 25,000 tons and stretches some 684 feet in length. Due to its amphibious support capabilities, the USS Anchorage is ideally suited to support the Navy’s critical mission abroad, and can carry a fully equipped battalion of approximately 800 Marines.

This coin pays tribute to the USS Anchorage and salutes the exceptional service of her crew. The obverse contains a scene with a starboard view of the USS Anchorage cutting through the water. The reverse displays the shield and crest of the USS Anchorage, imbued with bold blue enamel.

Minted in solid bronze, using special deep-relief coining dies, and hand-finished with an antique patina for exceptional quality and detail.

Each coin measures 1 3/4 inches, (44mm) in diameter.
