Located on the Long Island Sound, near Great Neck in New York, USCG Station Kings Point is a critical component of the US Coast Guard’s defense of the New York coastline. The station is located next to the US Merchant Marine Academy, and its missions are search and rescue, law enforcement, waterways management, and homeland security defense operations.
The stations area of responsibility extends from the Byram River in Connecticut to Hells Gate in New York City. With so many points of entry into the New York area, it’s up to the Coast Guard to provide the necessary protection against those who would threaten our national security.
Minted from solid nickel alloy, using special deep-relief coining dies, and hand-finished with an antique patina for exceptional quality and detail, this medallion is dedicated to the former and current Coast Guard and Civilian personnel who have proudly served this great Station in its important role to protect this nation’s freedom. The obverse, imbued with bold colored enamel, features the emblem of Station Kings Point. The reverse displays the logo of the US Coast Guard.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
