Description
Located on the Prince William Sound in the great state of Alaska, USCG Marine Service Unit Valdez is a critical component of the US Coast Guard’s security and environmental protection activities in the state. The unit is tasked with facility inspections, law enforcement, oil spill and hazardous materials response, and homeland security defense operations.
Minted from solid nickel alloy, this medallion is dedicated to the former and current Coast Guard and Civilian personnel who have proudly served this great unit in its important role to protect this nation’s freedom. The obverse, imbued with bold colored enamel, features the emblem MSU Valdez. The reverse displays the logo of the US Coast Guard.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
