Description
Protecting our coasts and waters from Maine to Northern New Jersey, USCG 1st District serves as the primary guard for homeland security, maritime safety, national defense, and environmental protection missions on the east coast.
The USCG 1st District is comprised of 14 major program areas, from search and rescue to ice breaking, from homeland security to repairing aids to navigation. Additionally this district is responsible for 89 units, employing over 10,000 active, reserve, civilian, and auxiliary personnel, operating 30 cutters and numerous other small craft to execute the district’s mission with excellence.
Minted from solid bronze and hand-finished with an antique patina for exceptional quality and detail, this medallion is dedicated to the former and current Coast Guard and Civilian personnel who have proudly served this great district in its important role to protect this nation’s freedom. The obverse, accented with bold colored enamel, depicts the USCG 1st District’s insignia. The reverse displays the logo of the US Coast Guard.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
