USAF Air Traffic Control
United States Air Force Air Traffic Controllers are daily responsible for billions of dollars worth of equipment and thousands of lives. Working as part of a close-knit team, they manage the flow of air traffic on the ground and in 50,000 square miles of air space. These specialists play a crucial role in the lives of the country’s fighting forces and keeping the mission on track.
The Air Traffic Control specialty is one of the most challenging available to enlisted personnel. The two month training is a combination of intensive study with practical hands on training using realistic simulations. Many trainees do not make it to the end of the training period but those who do have the honor and responsibility of keeping our men and women in blue moving safely and efficiently through the skies.
Minted from solid nickel, and imbued with bold colored enamel on each side, this medallion is dedicated to the brave men and women of the USAF Air Traffic Control who keep the United States Air Force in the air and bring them safely to the ground. The obverse features the USAF Air Traffic Control badge. The reverse displays the insignia of the United States Army Air Force from the WWII era.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) Round in diameter.
