Description

Charged with detecting and tracking enemy ships, planes, and missiles, Operations Specialists play a vital role in advancing the Navy’s tactical command and control capabilities.

Utilizing the most advanced communications and radar systems available, they constantly monitor and evaluate threats to U.S. forces and provide critical technical information to their superiors based on their observations. They also operate and maintain Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems, electronic countermeasure equipment, and radio telephones, relating real-time data to warfighters in combat.

This coin salutes the expert skill of all Operations Specialists as they continue to support the global mission of the U.S. Navy.

Minted on the obverse against a blue enameled backdrop is the specialty insignia of the U.S. Navy Operations Specialist. The reverse contains a stylized anchor design, which incorporates a full color rendering of the U.S. Navy’s official emblem.

Struck in a cuper nickel alloy, this coin contains an antique finish. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card that describes the contributions of the Navy’s Operations Specialists.

Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
