Description

This Kaneohe Bay Base challenge coin salutes the dedication of the men and women who serve on this U.S. Navy base located in Oahu, Hawaii.

Since 1939, Kaneohe Bay has been a key component of America’s naval defense in the Pacific theater. During WW II, the base served as a major training ground for thousands of navy gunners. Today, this storied base holds a population of 11,827 Marines, sailors, and civilians and continues its service as a vital training ground for Marine air and ground operations.

This coin is dedicated to the military and civilian personnel who continue to proudly serve the country as part of Kaneohe Bay Base.

This coin is minted in a unique triangle shape that recreates the Kaneohe Bay insignia. The obverse shows the Kaneohe Bay emblem. The reverse depicts an emblem of the US Navy, featuring an eagle grasping an anchor in its talons, encircled by chains and rope, symbolic of naval traditions dating back to the nation’s first ships.

Each coin measures a 2 inch x 1 3/4 inch (50mm x 45mm) triangle.
