Established as an official unified combatant command of the U.S. Military in 1987, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) trains and equips America’s elite covert units.
Integrating special operations elements from all military branches, USSOCOM is comprised of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASCO); Navy Special Warfare Command (NAVSPECWARCOM); Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC); Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC); and Joint Special Operations Command.(JSOC). As its primary duty and mission, USSOCOM assumes full command and control responsibilities for these forces, coordinating their unique assets in theater when necessary for maximum operational effectiveness. Exhibiting an unrivaled ability to insert themselves into any environment and extract undetected once the mission is accomplished, the members of these units have earned a reputation as “Quiet Professionals” in the defense of freedom throughout the world.
