Description

Founded more than two-hundred years ago, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America.

Strategically located atop a commanding plateau on the west bank of the Hudson River, it served as a major American stronghold throughout the Revolutionary War, gaining in importance as the war progressed. In 1779, General George Washington located his headquarters there, planning the bold campaigns that would ultimately force a British surrender in 1781. Since its inception, the mission of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point has been to train and inspire the Army’s Corps of Cadets to ready them for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation.

This coin honors that centuries-old tradition and salutes all those Cadets who have walked its hallowed grounds on their way to excellence as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.  The obverse features West Point’s official crest and shield, which shares many of the same symbolic elements as the U.S. Army Seal and the Great Seal of the United States. The reverse features the Army Seal in stunning detail.

Struck in a brass alloy and given an antique bronze finish, this coin is accented with rich enamel highlights on both sides.

Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.

This is a surplus NWTM item. Packaging may vary.

This coin features an out of date design and will not be remade after product is sold out.
