Formed in 1962, the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) is responsible for providing Soldiers with the equipment and technology they need to engage and defeat America’s enemies throughout the world.
Comprised of approximately 65,000 Military and Civilian personnel, AMC operates more than 280 facilities worldwide and is charged with directing the development, procurement, and distribution of every major weapons, communications, and intelligence gathering system used by the U.S. Army. Through its nine major subordinate commands, AMC provides critical hands-on logistics support, offers advanced weapons training, and maintains and repairs heavy machinery and other vital equipment to ensure that every Army unit performs to its maximum potential.
This coin is dedicated to the members of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, who enhance the combat capabilities of America’s Soldiers. The obverse replicates the tri-color design and detail of the official Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the U.S. Army Materiel Command. The reverse features the AMC’s Distinctive Unit Insignia, which contains a grid-lined globe in red and blue and bears the slogan “America’s Arsenal for the Brave.”
Minted in a brass alloy and finished in bronze, this coin is imbued with rich enamel on both sides.
Each coin measures 1 3/8 inch x 1 3/4 inch (35mm x 45mm) Shield.
