Description

Throughout human history, there have always been those individuals who have willingly sacrificed their safety to shield others, driven by a deep desire to help those most in need. These valiant men and women have relied on an inner strength that few possess, the same spirit of protection and defense that the Second Amendment embodies.

Over the centuries, countless generations of firefighters have called upon the aid and protection of St. Florian of Lorch, the third-century Roman warrior who was tortured and killed for rescuing innocent Christians from the ravages of fire. Inspired by his compelling example, they faithfully fulfill their life-saving mission.

America’s firefighters know the right to keep and bear arms is essential to the survival of individual liberty. They understand that to protect our freedom from those that would dare to infringe on our rights, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguard every citizen’s Second Amendment freedoms. From the start of the American Revolution to our modern day militias, Americans have known that our freedom and sovereignty is directly linked to our right to keep and bear arms.

Minted from a solid bronze, and finished with an antique patina, this coin salutes the extraordinary courage and conviction demonstrated by firefighters and the foresight of our founding fathers to guarantee this crucial, inalienable right in our Constitution. The obverse depicts St. Florian and a modern-day firefighter extinguishing a blaze. The reverse features the text of the Second Amendment and includes a quote from Thomas Jefferson that reads: “No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”

Each coin measures 1 1/2 inch (39mm) in diameter.
