The Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base (AFB) coin salutes the Center as the world-wide manager of engines, missiles, software, and avionics components for the fleet of United States Air Force aircraft and missile systems, the aircraft and systems that have assured victory wherever the Air Force has confronted the enemy. Through war and peace, Hill Air Force Base has served the nation, and the Ogden Air Logistics Center is the major component at the base.
Long famous as a maintenance facility, the Center has worldwide engineering, sustainment and logistics management and maintenance support responsibilities for some of the Air Force’s most sophisticated weapon systems, military airframes, munitions, and fleet of strategic intercontinental ballistic missiles. It is the Air Force Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for low-observable, stealth aircraft structural composite materials, materials that have made United States stealth technology the finest in the world.
This attractive challenge coin features the crest of the Ogden Air Logistics Center, surrounded by its title and location at Hill AFB, Utah. The coin is enhanced with a transparent blue across the center globe and other rich enamels, bright green showing the valley below Hill AFB, and white snow-capped mountains of the Wasatch Range directly to the east. The reverse of this coin is a striking rendition of the modern Air Force emblem. The wing and star emblem of the new Air Force symbol is based on the familiar World War II “Hap” Arnold wings and represents the service’s heritage. The symbol’s modern design represents the Air Force’s present and future leading edge capabilities defending the United States.
