Description
The Ninth Coast Guard District, Guardians of the Great Lakes, provides safety and security for the more than 30 million people in the Great Lakes region, the critical infrastructure that make up the Great Lakes system, and the recreational and commercial vessels that use the Great Lakes.
The more than 6,500 men and women that make up the Ninth Coast Guard District staff are ‘Always Ready’ to serve those who live, work and play on the Great Lakes.
This coin honors the men and women who have served the 9th District past and present. Struck in a brass alloy and embued with durable enamel in the bold colors of the emblem of the 9th District.
Each coin measures a 2 1/8 inch x 1 1/2 inch (54mm x 38mm) oval.
