This coin salutes the U.S. Navy’s proven commitment to bolstering America’s national defense and protecting its vital interests overseas. The obverse features an aircraft carrier, flanked by a full compliment of warships and shielded by a pair of jet aircraft. A Navy submarine is depicted lurking beneath the water’s surface. The reverse depicts an emblem of the US Navy, featuring an eagle grasping an anchor in its talons, encircled by chains and rope, symbolic of naval traditions dating back to the nation’s first ships.
