Fireman Apprentices in the U.S. Navy assist in the maintenance, operation, and repair of the ship’s vital electrical and propulsion systems.
Rigorously applying their training to enhance the performance of these systems, they seek to ensure the safety of their fellow crew members at all times. Assisting with hull, engine, and basic machine repair, Fireman Apprentices are also responsible for aiding in emergency management and damage control efforts. Serving in a vital support role, these dedicated sailors help to propel the Navy’s ships forward to victory.
This coin salutes all Fireman Apprentices, whose devotion to duty serves to advance the mission of the U.S. Navy throughout the world.
Depicted in bold enamel on the obverse is a rendering of the Fireman Apprentice rating badge. The reverse bears the eagle emblem of the U.S. Navy and contains a space for engraving.
Minted in copper nickel and given antique silver finish, this coin is imbued with colorful enamel on both sides.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
