Vigilantly standing watch on the decks of the Navy’s ships throughout the world, Quartermasters are vital to America’s defense.
Providing direct assistance to the Officer of the Deck, Quartermasters steer and navigate ships, plot courses, and monitor depths to ensure the safe transport of their fellow Sailors to their destination. They are also responsible for the maintenance of the ship’s log and the upkeep of important oceanographic publications.
This coin salutes the service of the Navy’s Quartermasters, whose dedication to duty ensures the success of U.S. Military operations throughout the world.
The obverse against a blue enameled backdrop is the specialty insignia of the U.S. Navy Quartermaster. The reverse contains a stylized anchor design, which incorporates a full color rendering of the U.S. Navy’s official emblem.
Minted in copper nickel and given antique silver finish, this coin is imbued with bold colorful enamel on both sides.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
