Commemorate your visit to Mount Rushmore National Memorial with this die-struck medallion created by master artisans. Great as a gift, to celebrate a trip or to just hold as a lasting reminder of your experience in America’s great outdoors, this splash-minted National Memorial medallion will be a timeless keepsake that you will treasure forever.
Located in the black hills of South Dakota, Mount Rushmore National Memorial commemorates some of the country’s most important found fathers. Designed by Sculptor Gutzon Borglum, the four faces carved into the side of the mountain communicate, in the sculptor’s own words, “the founding and preservation of the U.S.”
The medallion’s obverse shows the four presidents honored in the sculpture, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The reverse shows Black elk, a famous leader of the Lakota people who lived on the land around Mt. Rushmore. Minted in deep relief using a special “splash minting” process, this coin is struck in a brass alloy and given a beautiful lacquered finished.
Each coin measures 1 1/2 inch (38.1mm) in diameter.
