Description

The highest point in the Northern Cascades with an elevation of 10,778 feet, Mount Baker is Washington State’s third highest peak.

Supporting twelve glaciers that cover more than twenty square miles, its steep slopes contain more snow and ice than most of the other Cascade volcanoes combined. Year after year, Mount Baker draws a steady stream of ambitious climbers interested in a challenging ascent. But often the crevassed terrain or deteriorating weather will turn many climbers back. Reaching the mountain’s highest elevations requires fitness, skill and determination.

This coin salutes climbers or admirers of Mt. Baker. The obverse contains a detailed rendering of Mount Baker and includes its elevation. The reverse depicts an intrepid climber forging upwards on Mount Baker’s flank.

Minted in a brass alloy, this coin is finished in antique bronze.

Each coin measures 1 1/2 (39mm) in diameter.
