Description
The duties of Mineman are various, such as performing organizational and intermediate level maintenance on underwater mines and associated equipment, guns, gun mounts, handling equipment, small arms, surface sonar and mine countermeasures equipment. Assemble, test, stow, and transport underwater mines. Operate, maintain, and perform authorized modifications on material handling equipment, assembly level items, and test equipment.
The Mineman also, apply current doctrine and procedures to CIC operations as necessary for radar navigation. Provide technical information and assistance related to Mine Warfare and search and rescue operations. Provide technical information and advice on capabilities, limitations, reliability, and operational readiness.
This coin honors all the mineman and salutes the work they do. The obverse carries the insignia of the mineman rate, while the reverse has space available for engraving a personal message.
This coin is minted in a nickel alloy and given an antique finish and imbued with a rich, durable enamel.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inches, (44mm) in diameter.
