Description
Anas Platyrhynchos
Widely distributed across the continent, Mallards are the best known and most abundant species of duck in North America.
Highly adaptable, Mallards tolerate a variety of environments and are capable of enduring wide variations in climate and temperature. They typically locate their nests in dense cover in marshes, bogs, and other marine environments. Ranging in size from 20-28 inches, these stout-bodied birds have a wide wingspan that reaches between 30-40 inches, enabling them to complete a near vertical lift-off to avoid predators.
This coin features a detailed depiction of a Mallard on its obverse. Bordered by a classic wreath design, the reverse contains a space for engraving.
This proof-like coin is minted in MerlinGold®, a proprietary brass alloy that simulates the look and feel of gold. Each coin comes packaged with a descriptive header card.
Each coin measures 1 7/8 inch (47mm) in diameter.
