Description
Forging America’s military might since 1914, Fort Story’s soldiers will take up this challenge coin to symbolize their transformation into battle-ready instruments of freedom.
Now part of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Virginia, is the largest military base of its kind in the world. Fort Story has long served as a center for coastal defense, training soldiers for combat during World War I. Serving as Headquarters of Harbor Defense Command during World War II and since 1946, Fort Story has been central command for amphibious transportation and logistics training and operations. Today it provides the latest technology and amphibious training elements of the modern US Army. Together, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story is the crown jewel of America’s military bases, unified under one motto, “Simult Militamus,” which translates into, “together we serve.”
The obverse of this challenge coin features the base’s logo; a US Army logo is displayed on the reverse. Minted in the USA from special deep-relief coining dies; struck from solid bronze; and hand-finished with an antique patina for exceptional quality and detail, the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story challenge coin pays homage to a soldier’s commitment to training and service.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
