Joining together Elmendorf Air Force Base and the United States Army’s Fort Richardson, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson proudly supports a multitude of units in the surrounding area. Located in Anchorage, Alaska, the base serves a vital role in securing American freedoms across the Asian Pacific region.
The 4th Brigade Combat Team, nicknamed the Spartans, has played a key part in securing American liberties abroad. Deployed to support both Operation Iraqi Freedom as well as Operation Enduring Freedom, the 4th BCT has conducted both conventional and unconventional operations including training defense forces, search and rescue missions, and counter-insurgency ops throughout multiple theaters.
Minted from solid bronze, and imbued with bold colored enamel on each side, this medallion is dedicated to the tireless service of the men and women stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and serving in the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. The obverse features the 4th Brigade’s insignia bordered by the name of the base. The reverse displays the emblem of the United States Army.
This handsome challenge coin is bronze and given an antique finish, and is imbued with durable and attractive enamel.
