Description
Founded in 1918, the International Association of Firefighters serves as the premier advocacy organization for professional firefighters throughout the world, helping them pursue their life-saving work.
Building on a proud legacy, today’s professional firefighters exhibit the same raw courage and unfailing conviction of those heroes throughout history who have risked their lives to combat fire’s destructive force. Inspired by the powerful example of St. Florian, the third century Roman Soldier who was put to death for rescuing Christians from the ravages of fire, modern-day
firefighters brave the smoke and flames to ensure our safety.
This coin is dedicated to professional firefighters throughout the world whose heroic service keeps us safe. The obverse contains the Maltese Cross logo of the IAFF. Worn by the Knights of St. John, the legendary warriors of the Crusades, the Maltese Cross has been worn as a badge of honor by firefighters for centuries. The reverse depicts Saint Florian, Patron Saint of Firefighters, and a modern-day firefighter extinguishing a blaze.
Minted in a copper nickel alloy, this coin is given an antique finish.
Each coin measures 1.50 inches (39mm) in diameter.
