On September 11, in one of our country’s darkest hours, America was united through the everyday heroes that sacrificed, sometimes with their lives, so that others could go on. The heroic police and fire department personnel who answered duty’s call that day and every day are faithfully commemorated with this die-struck medallion.
The medallion’s obverse shows an image of the proud American Eagle next to police department personnel encircled by the text “Heroes Walk Among Us.” The reverse bears an image of Old Glory unfurled, next to fire personnel.
This intricately designed commemorative coin is minted in a brass alloy and contains an antique bronze finish.
Each coin measures 2 inches (50mm) in diameter.
