Saving lives and protecting vital installations and equipment, the highly trained and eminently courageous Firefighters of the U.S. Air Force are an integral part of every command.
Specializing in incident containment, search and rescue tactics, and emergency response, these intrepid individuals safeguard bases and contingency operations throughout the world, providing hands-on crisis management at a moment’s notice. Air Force Firefighters are experts in containing and neutralizing fires resulting from aircraft crash incidents, as well as structural and natural cover fires, putting it all on the line to save lives and protect property. Wherever the U.S. Air Force is called into action, Firefighters are there to ensure the safety of their fellow Airmen.
This coin is dedicated to the valor and skill of all those who have serve as firefighters in the U.S. Air Force. The obverse features the insignia proudly worn by these men and women. The reverse features the Air Force wing and star emblem, also known as the “Hap Arnold Wings,” a symbol that dates back to the Army Air Corps.
Minted and struck in a nickel alloy, this coin has special two tone plating. The obverse has an antique brass finish with semi-sandblast and the reverse is given the classic antique silver plating; accented with crisp blue enamel highlights.
Each coin measures 1 7/8 inch (47mm) Round in diameter.
