Weighing up to 700 pounds, Elk are the second largest members of the deer family, surpassed only by Moose in size and weight.
Using its powerful long legs, this enormous animal can reach speeds of up to thirty-five miles per hour. Elk are also superb swimmers, wading through rushing mountain streams with ease. Sporting antlers that can weigh up to twenty-five pounds, they are easily spotted trotting through forests in search of their food, which consists mainly of moss, lichen, and a variety of grasses.
This coin features a detailed depiction of an Elk on its obverse. Bordered by a classic wreath design, the reverse contains a space for engraving.
