This coin salutes the U.S. Navy’s Desert Sailors, whose exceptional dedication to duty supports America’s global military mission. The obverse features a rendering of the island of Bahrain where some of the Navy’s bravest sailors are stationed. The reverse depicts an emblem of the US Navy, featuring an eagle grasping an anchor in its talons, encircled by chains and rope, symbolic of naval traditions dating back to the nation’s first ships.

Minted in bronze and given antique finish, this coin is imbued with bold colorful enamel on both sides.

Each coin measures 1 7/8 inch (47mm) in diameter.
