Commissioned in 1914, Station Charleston is on the East side of the Ashley River and is one of the oldest operational Coast Guard bases in the country. To complete its mission, Station Charleston works closely with Coast Guard District 7 resources and maintains maximum integration with strategic assets from Charleston Air Force Base and Naval Weapons Station Charleston. Vigilantly protecting America’s southeastern coast and providing critical marine response capabilities across all Coast Guard operational areas, Sector Charleston is a vital component of the Coast Guard’s national network.

This coin salutes Station Charleston and all those who serve this great installation. The obverse features a rendering of the Sector Charleston emblem. The reverse bears the official seal of the U.S. Coast Guard. Struck in a brass alloy and brushed with an antique finish, this coin is imbued with enamel on both sides.
