Operating as a vital unit within the First Coast Guard District, Sector Northern New England provides direct support for all Coast Guard operations, including search and rescue, fisheries and other law enforcement, and aids to navigation maintenance.
Commissioned in 2005, Sector Northern New England is headquartered at South Portland, Maine, the last sector to be commissioned in 2005. To complete its mission, Sector Northern New England works closely with First Coast Guard District resources. Vigilantly protecting America’s northeastern coast and providing critical marine response capabilities across all Coast Guard operational areas, Sector Northern New England is a vital component of the Coast Guard’s national network.
This coin salutes Sector Northern New England and all those who serve this great installation. The obverse features a rendering of the Sector Northern New England emblem. The reverse bears a map of the sector and the official seal of the U.S. Coast Guard.
