Performing across the full spectrum of Coast Guard operations, Musicians enable the Coast Guard Band to celebrate the proud heritage and important mission of America’s oldest multi-mission maritime force. The Coast Guard Band represents the entire service at White House ceremonies, for the Secretary of Transportation and other cabinet officials, and around the world at formal and informal events in support of Coast Guard operations.
This coin pays tribute to the Musicians who honor the mission of the U.S. Coast Guard as members of the Coast Guard Band. Featured on the obverse is a detailed rendering of the insignia worn by these individuals. In honor of the Coast Guard’s heritage as America’s oldest continuous maritime force, the reverse depicts a team of intrepid Coast Guard sailors braving rough surf as they approach a lighthouse and features a space for engraving.
Struck in a nickel alloy, this coin is accented with crisp enamel highlights.
